The new lock body is larger than the existing one, so the cavity inside the door will need to be carefully enlarged to fit. Tasks include: • Removing the existing lock. • Chiseling/drilling the mortice pocket to fit the new, larger lock body. • Cutting/recessing the faceplate so it sits flush with the door edge. • Drilling new handle spindle/key holes if required. • Installing and aligning the new strike plate on the door frame. • Ensuring the lock and handles operate smoothly and the door closes securely.
