Private family in Toorak seeking an experienced, proactive and exceptionally reliable laundress for a stable, long-term position. Monday and Friday, 8:00 am–2:00 pm $35 per hour, paid weekly by bank transfer. This is a dedicated laundry, ironing, wardrobe and linen-management role—not general cleaning. You will manage the complete household laundry cycle and work carefully and autonomously without constant direction. Responsibilities: Collect, sort, wash, dry, iron, steam, fold and return household laundry. Strip and remake beds every Monday. Manage sheets, towels, doona covers and washable doonas. Use an approved laundromat for bulky items when required. Return everything to the correct wardrobes, drawers and labelled linen cupboards. Keep wardrobes, linen cupboards and laundry areas beautifully organised. Identify stains, damage, repairs and items requiring specialist treatment. Monitor supplies and use low-tox, biodegradable and low-fragrance products wherever appropriate and fabric-safe. Designer, delicate, valuable, vintage, dry-clean-only or uncertain items must never be washed without approval. This includes cashmere, silk, wool, leather, suede, velvet and structured or embellished garments. If in doubt, set it aside and ask. The ideal applicant will be meticulous, honest, discreet, punctual and highly organised, with excellent knowledge of fabrics, care labels, stain treatment and ironing. Private-household, professional-laundry, wardrobe-care or luxury-hotel experience is preferred. Requirements: Current driver’s licence and own reliable, insured vehicle. Current Police Check or willingness to obtain one. Full Australian working rights. Two recent professional references, including one recent direct employer.
