What do auto electricians do?

Warning lights on your dash or flickering headlights may indicate an electrical issue, or perhaps your car just won’t start. Fortunately, many auto-electricians offer a mobile service to ensure you’re not left stranded on the side of the road if something unexpected happens.

Here are some common issues that your auto electrician can help with:

Engine electrics and brakes

It’s important to act on any warning lights on your dash, especially your anti-lock braking system (ABS) to fix any issues before they become unsafe. Firstly, your auto electrician will use a diagnostics machine to review the health of your battery, alternator, and starter motor.

  • A flat battery can be the cause of many electrical issues but fortunately, they’re easily replaced. However, if your battery isn’t holding charge, your auto electrician will consider whether the alternator (which charges the battery when the car is running) is working.

The starter motor may be the problem if your car won’t start, and this can either be repaired or replaced. An auto electrician can complete checks on fuel pumps and your electronic fuel injection (EFI) system to repair or improve your car’s engine.

Auto electricals

Having trouble with auto electrics such as central locking, cruise control, windscreen wipers, power windows and mirrors? Your local auto electrician will check for blown fuses or short circuits to isolate and fix the problem.

Lighting systems

Functioning lighting systems are required for safety and legal reasons, so it’s important to have any issues fixed quickly. Lighting issues are often associated with the battery and alternator.

Car security systems

Keep your vehicle safe and secure with a car alarm and immobiliser installed by a qualified auto sparky. An alarm acts as a deterrent to car thieves and an immobiliser ensures the engine won’t start if entry is gained to the vehicle. Plus, installing a dash cam and reversing camera is another smart safety and security measure.

Emergency roadside assistance

If you find yourself stranded with a car that won’t start, a mobile auto electrician near you can help you get back on the road sooner. Their vehicle is fully-equipped with the necessary tools to diagnose the problem, so they can repair many issues on the spot. For any complex problems, you’ll need to arrange a tow truck to take your car to a safe location for further work.

ELECTRICIAN: Suzuki Swift 2018 driver-side window not rising

$125

Braddon ACT 2612, Australia

30th Oct 2024

I will drive to you to minimise costs, and I can buy any parts required. Looking to pay for labour of diagnostics and repair only. Diagnostic information: This appears to be an electrical issue, most likely inside the door panel. The window cannot be forced upwards by hand - most likely by design. - The motor appears to activate for downwards pull, but no activation at all for upwards. - All other power windows are working fine, so it’s unlikely to be a blown fuse. - The auto-lowering does not seem to activate, neither does the rising. However, the lowering sounds like it does sometimes. - All other electricals in vehicle appear to be fine

Very informative, hardworking, helpful and honest
