Two seperate items needed. First is to effectively, cut a door in half, whilst keeping both the visual moulding of the door and the architrave intact. Place a piece of plasterboard over the gap left behind. No need to attempt to match the stipple as our plasterer will solve that in a few weeks. Parents are emotionally attached to the fancy hinges on this door because it swung both ways 25 years ago before they built the extension. Bonus points if you can keep the hinges. Second is, rehang front fly wire door. I’ve spent far too long refinishing this piece of $hit, not original to the house door to give up now. I have rehung it, but couldn’t get it to latch. Figured out it isn’t original to the house, and it has at no point, in its entire lifetime latched. I’m too scared to use a spade drill bit to move it across so it latches. Bonus points if you fix the mess made in the jambs by the previous owners fitting this door in the first place. I’ll even let you keep the Myer receipts they shoved behind the hinges. Door probably also needs planing after 100 years. Just please make it latch.
