Symptoms: > - Last night while running, the steering wheel suddenly became extremely heavy and locked up. I turned it off. Now it won't start at all. When I turn the key, it just makes a rapid clicking noise. I suspect it could be a dead battery, a broken serpentine belt, or a dead alternator. Important: The budget I set is ONLY for the call-out and diagnostic fee. If it needs new parts (like an alternator or belt), please give me a quote FIRST before doing any replacement. Needing a mobile mechanic to come out and diagnose. I have a 2005 Subaru WRX manual. It cranks normally but won’t start/catch at all. After a long drive the day before (~5 hours), it wouldn’t start the next morning. While cranking it backfired a couple of times from the exhaust, and there’s a slight fuel smell.

Engine warning light + Anti-pollution fault – Peugeot Partner My Peugeot Partner has an engine light on with an “Anti-Pollution Fault” message. Earlier, I also received a “Surcharge moteur / Engine overload” warning and had to pull over while driving. I checked the coolant and it is at the minimum level (red coolant). Last week I was driving, my check engine light came on. It wasn’t even 20 minutes later that I started to lose power, I ended up stopping the car with smoke pouring out of the bonnet. I NEED to know if my engine has blown. There was no loud bang but there were some light tapping noises. The aircon started playing up about a week before this had happend. And oil was re filled about 2 weeks prior.

I have a 2008 Falcon EA-FG wagon with 300k on the clock that is not starting. Yesterday I went to start the car and it started making by metallic grinding/banging noise on my second or third time attempt and so stopped and called the RACV. The RACV guy says that it is either: a) The starter motor which can easily be replaced. b) The bendix or ring gear which is a bigger job. I need a mobile mechanic to come out and give me a second opinion. The task is to come and quickly pull out the starter motor and tell me what the actual issue is. If it's just the starter motor then there will be another task to replace it. If it's the bendix or ring gear then another task to fix this is you can. This is a friends car so I will need something in writing like an email or Air Tasker message to conform what's wrong. Toyota LandCruiser 60 Series manual. Clutch pedal feels normal but won’t disengage. Clutch fluid reservoir was empty. Likely master and slave cylinder replacement.

I recently had my car serviced and the mechanic quoted to replace the seized alternator and drive belt. They said it would be fine to wait until Jan to have this done, and now I have a car that has completely failed due the battery not charging! I was quote $650+labor for the job.
