Access: Can be done via the fender liners (peeling back the wheel arch plastic). No front bumper removal is required. Job: Just the labor to swap both bulbs and ensure they fire up. I have a holden astra 2001 What happened: I was driving when the car suddenly wouldn’t let me accelerate any further. The engine warning lights came on and the car shut off while driving. When I opened the bonnet, I saw a small amount of smoke coming from the front/top area of the engine on the drive belt side. The smoke stopped quickly, but after that the car would not start again. The car was towed home. I tried jump starting it but it still won’t turn over. From what I’ve read, this may be a serpentine (drive) belt failure, possibly affecting the alternator/water pump, but I’m not certain. I need someone to diagnose it properly. What I need: • Inspection and diagnosis on site • If it is the drive belt/tensioner/alternator related, I’d like to know if it can be repaired on site • If it can’t be repaired on site, I will tow it to a workshop myself to save costs Budget: $250 for inspection/initial repair if possible. Van won’t start battery flat but when it was full it still didn’t start, has fuel.

My car is booked in for a service next week but I don't think it can make it there. Need someone to diagnose and see what's wrong with it as it's sputtering, has a very rough idle and showing check engine warnings on the dash. It's rough to drive and feels like a rotary engine. Last week I was driving, my check engine light came on. It wasn’t even 20 minutes later that I started to lose power, I ended up stopping the car with smoke pouring out of the bonnet. I NEED to know if my engine has blown. There was no loud bang but there were some light tapping noises. The aircon started playing up about a week before this had happend. And oil was re filled about 2 weeks prior.

I have a 2008 Falcon EA-FG wagon with 300k on the clock that is not starting. Yesterday I went to start the car and it started making by metallic grinding/banging noise on my second or third time attempt and so stopped and called the RACV. The RACV guy says that it is either: a) The starter motor which can easily be replaced. b) The bendix or ring gear which is a bigger job. I need a mobile mechanic to come out and give me a second opinion. The task is to come and quickly pull out the starter motor and tell me what the actual issue is. If it's just the starter motor then there will be another task to replace it. If it's the bendix or ring gear then another task to fix this is you can. This is a friends car so I will need something in writing like an email or Air Tasker message to conform what's wrong. Toyota LandCruiser 60 Series manual. Clutch pedal feels normal but won’t disengage. Clutch fluid reservoir was empty. Likely master and slave cylinder replacement.

I recently had my car serviced and the mechanic quoted to replace the seized alternator and drive belt. They said it would be fine to wait until Jan to have this done, and now I have a car that has completely failed due the battery not charging! I was quote $650+labor for the job. Pretty sure ive got a flat battery, dont know how to change it or jump start it. Car still opens up, radio on and all. It just womt start.. it clicks rapidly when i ignite
