I have a small veggie patch in my backyard with a few tomato plants that are growing well but now need proper support. The stems have started bending and touching the ground, and I want them trained to grow upright so the plants stay healthy and produce good tomatoes. I previously tried tying the plants to wooden stakes, but I may have tied them incorrectly. One section started turning brown and the leaves looked like they were dying, so I untied it to avoid damaging the plant. A gardener suggested that I could potentially use wooden trellis panels or another support method, so I’m open to the best approach. What I need help with: - Properly stake/tie the plants OR install tomato cages OR a trellis (whichever is most suitable). - Ensure the plants grow upright and are not damaged. - Add some protection to help prevent birds from eating the tomatoes. Tools / Materials: - I already have some wooden stakes in place. - If additional materials are required (trellis panels, wire, mesh, ties, cages, etc.), please let me know or bring them and I will reimburse the cost.
