Verify HWP Gear: Check boot for 2nd battery tray & confirm presence of a Catalytic Converter. Equity Audit: Check chassis rust (rear arches/floor) & measure ground clearance (Must be 100mm for QLD RWC). MANDATORY PHOTOS (Upload to Task): Diagnostic scan results (Fault codes & Adaptation pressures). Fluid sample on white paper. Inside coolant reservoir (checking for oil/sludge). Close-ups of all 4 Brembo calipers & boot floor. Tools: Must have professional scan tool & tools to access trans filler.

I have a 2008 Falcon EA-FG wagon with 300k on the clock that is not starting. Yesterday I went to start the car and it started making by metallic grinding/banging noise on my second or third time attempt and so stopped and called the RACV. The RACV guy says that it is either: a) The starter motor which can easily be replaced. b) The bendix or ring gear which is a bigger job. I need a mobile mechanic to come out and give me a second opinion. The task is to come and quickly pull out the starter motor and tell me what the actual issue is. If it's just the starter motor then there will be another task to replace it. If it's the bendix or ring gear then another task to fix this is you can. This is a friends car so I will need something in writing like an email or Air Tasker message to conform what's wrong. UHF Radio and antenna supplied (did not come with ring terminals. Ideally would like it spliced onto an accessory power line so radio is only on when ignition is on.

Car radio / dashboard console (controlling radio, CD, phone, setup menu, etc) not responsive. Radio was working but sometimes would be unable to change stations/volume, etc but would then come good after maybe 15 minutes of driving. I thought this might suggest a battery issue but had the battery checked and all OK. Some research online suggested doing a "hard reset" by disconnecting the battery for ~10 mins. Did that, after reconnecting battery, the console is in a dead state (displays time/date but does not start 'Ford Audio', as expected). Have replaced the 2 relevant fuses, hasn't helped.
