I’m looking for someone experienced in installing climbing-plant/trellis wire supports on a timber paling fence in a raised garden bed. The garden bed is approximately 8 metres long, but the climbing plants will occupy the central section only, as mature shrubs will be planted at both ends. I expect the vine support to be approximately 5.5 metres long, subject to final measurement on site. The support is for 3 climbing plants (2 Hardenbergias and 1 potato vine/Solanum). I’m looking for a neat, durable system using approximately 4 horizontal runs of stainless-steel wire, at roughly 40 cm intervals up to about 1.6 m high. Ideally, the wires should sit approximately 4–5 cm out from the timber fence rather than directly against it, allowing room for the plants to grow, be trained and pruned, and for airflow behind them. I would like the wires to be properly tensioned and the fixings suitable for an outdoor timber fence. I'm happy for an experienced installer to recommend the best hardware and make minor adjustments to the design. Please let me know if you have experience installing espalier, vine or climbing-plant wire systems. My listed budget is for labour. I’m happy to pay separately for materials. I would prefer the installer to supply the appropriate stainless-steel wire, stand-off fixings and tensioning hardware after assessing what is suitable for the fence. Please indicate your estimated materials cost when making an offer.
