SIX WEEKS WITHOUT POWER During the cold nights of winter in the digitally connected age we live in is difficult to say the least. Hoping to show a kind hearted Aussie Battler who's lost faith in his beloved Australia, that there is noshame in falling and needing a helping hand. And that there are still good people, like himself, willing to offer that hand. The start of Covid, when his home burnt down,was the beginning of this hard working single fathers life taking a downward turn. With the world in lockdown it was over a year before they had a home again. He then struggled, as many have since Covid, with getting his business out of the red. More recently he had his spreader, his primary piece of equipment in his business stolen. He is now at risk of having his home foreclosed on and has been selling all he can to prevent his small family from being homeless again. Six weeks ago his electricity shut down. He was told that it's at his end between the house and the street. An electrician told him there was no way to know where abouts the fault was. As he didn't have the money to pay the electrician the thousands estimated to find the fault, he has run completely new lines. Now struggling paying the cost of running a generator some of the time, fines from council for the generator noise, still no end in sight. Checking in with him today, asking how his power issue was going has raised my concerns with how despondent and defeated he sounded. The power at the pole can not be turned back on without an EWR form. Apparently these are done when an electrician lays the lines or an electrician tests the lines. The electricians he has contacted have all said they will only test if they did the entire job. Hence his feeling defeated. I don't want to see another man whos has stayed true to the Australian values that I grew up with, lose their faith and give up. I listed in hopes I would find an electrician willing to test the lines giving back his power and faith.
