Hi! I’m looking for a DIY-er who likes working on cars. I need to replace the radiator on my 2016 Subaru Impreza. I can’t afford a mechanic and am a single mum and really need my car (especially because it’s school holidays). So I’m going to try and change it myself! Hoping a fellow DIY enthusiast who loves working on cars can give me a hand. Would be amazing if you have tools you could bring (Eg car jack and stands,socket and wrench set etc). I don’t mind if you haven’t changed a radiator before - there are a lot of videos we can follow on YouTube. Would love help to do this today. It sounds like a job that will take a couple of hours (including bleeding the coolant) - if you can’t stay that long that’s ok, helping me get well under way is fine (at least an hour of your time would be appreciated). My car is in my garage in Templestowe. That’s where we’ll work on it. I’m buying a replacement radiator now and already have a new radiator cap and coolant. Initially I’d hoped it was just the cap that needed replacing but when I put the new one on, the pressure showed a small leak in the top of the radiator behind the cap. The engine seems to have completely stopped and have taken this to a mechanic, who has analysed and advised an engine replacement. I want to find a good mechanic who is experienced with such work.

Potentially blown engine wants quote for rebuild and replacement

Last week I was driving, my check engine light came on. It wasn’t even 20 minutes later that I started to lose power, I ended up stopping the car with smoke pouring out of the bonnet. I NEED to know if my engine has blown. There was no loud bang but there were some light tapping noises. The aircon started playing up about a week before this had happend. And oil was re filled about 2 weeks prior.

Price negotiable Needed 2 jump starts to get home 8km last night- Car battery not charging while driving- presumed alternator failure, battery may also be dead (it’s definitely out of charge) I have but no way to check if it needs replacing, it might just need a charge. First need someone to come and diagnose for sure what’s going on and that it’s not just an easy fix- then if needed to replace the alternator etc then we can do that too, happy to pay for the necessary parts too of course. tight on money so hoping someone who knows what they’re doing can do it cheaper than the big businesses.
