Dishwasher needing repair. Just moved in and not sure what’s wrong with it.

Dishwasher has not been working for the past couple of days. Tried to clean and found a foul smell coming from drain. I suspect that it had been clogged and am not equipped with the tools to further investigate. (House is also rented)
