Boat movers can transport all types of boats, such as wooden boats, speedboats, yachts, and sailboats. The two main transport methods include boat transport by road (with a lorry or trailer) and by sea or river (by a sea vessel or under the boat’s own power).
Your pick-up and drop-off locations will determine the type of transport method you need. Boat transport includes land to the marina, marina to marina, and marina to coast travel. Boat transport is a specialised type of vehicle delivery service. Here’s a list of boat transport services you can request for on Airtasker.
To haul an oversized boat, movers may need to alter their route heavily. Boat weight and height restrictions vary per state and road. As a result, boat transport can take many hours more than regular travel. An experienced boat trailer delivery service will know how to work with boatyards, ports, and marinas. If you’re moving to a different city or state, our long distance movers can help you with your other moving needs. Once you’re done moving, our courier services can pick up or deliver any parcel from across town.
Towing a boat is possible for smaller and lighter vessels. Boat movers may use a large 4x4 vehicle or panel van to transport lightweight and narrower boats. For example, conventional road trailers may carry lightweight boats up to 32ft (9.8m).
Boat movers can ship yachts and other types of boats as deck cargo. Hauling a boat by sea vessel may require a ship or shore crane in a cradle. Skippers (i.e. boat transport personnel) need to have the necessary licences in handling safe and quick transport. Boat haulage by sea vessel can cover vast distances. For instance, a sea vessel can transport a boat from one part of the Atlantic or Pacific to another.
You can hire a crew or Captain to sail your boat from port-to-port by sea or river. Boat transport by sailing tends to be cheaper than boat transport by road. The latter option would need specialised equipment for road travel. However, transport by sailing can limit movement to ports or sea-accessible areas. Crew preparations include inspecting the vehicle, plotting the course, and checking shipping forecasts.
Boat movers can also help with unloading, docking, and maintenance tasks. To get your boat ready for use, your movers can remove the securing materials, reattach batteries and motors, and refill the water tanks. If you need to dispose of a boat that’s outlived its purpose, you can also find boat removal services on Airtasker. If you’re relocating to a new property, you can hire a removals service via Airtasker. Our removalists can help disassemble, pack, and move your furniture to your new home. For disposing of other junk, our clearance services can also help you out.

I need someone to move a washing machine and a dryer from a storage locker in E1W 2BX to a boat in St. Katharine Docks, E1W 1AT. This involves moving the item around a third of a mile from the locker to the marina, and from there on to the boat (which is est. 150m from the nearest parking space). Getting on to the boat requires lifting a roof section, lowing the items in to the boat and then moving them internally to the fitting location. Two people are needed for this task.
