I’m looking for an experienced cabinetmaker, furniture maker or joiner to professionally modify and join two genuine Castlery Sloane TV units so they appear as one long continuous unit. My main requirement is the front appearance. When standing in front of the finished unit, I do not want an obvious vertical gap where the two cabinets meet. The Sloane has fluted/reeded detailing on the cabinet ends, so the two inner ends where the units meet may need to be carefully modified, removed, rebuilt or otherwise adapted by someone experienced with furniture construction. Important: • I want to retain the original Sloane appearance, including the existing top, colour, fluted front and outer end panels. • I do not want a separate 3m benchtop placed over both cabinets as the solution. • Only the two inner meeting sides should be altered where necessary. • The finished outer ends should remain original. • Castlery’s assembly instructions show the main cabinet as “Body ×1”, so I understand the carcass is supplied as one assembled body rather than separate top/side panels. • I’m happy for an experienced tradesperson to recommend the best structural method after inspecting the construction. I haven’t purchased the two units yet because I want to confirm that the modification can be successfully completed first. The work is essentially residential-style cabinetry/joinery — marine experience is not required.
