Hence, I replaced the ignition barrel but now the car will turn on, run for 3 seconds then instantly turn off and come up with an error on the dash 'SAFE'. The vehicle is located in Ivanhoe, VIC, and the inspection needs to be completed at the seller’s location, preferably tomorrow. The car has a full service history and was serviced in September 2026. It drove very smoothly during my test drive, with no obvious engine or transmission issues. My main concern is specifically the engine. I have come across documented reports of excessive oil consumption on this engine, so I want to make sure there are no current signs of oil burning, internal engine damage or other significant engine issues.
