I have a 2013 Volkswagen Golf Convertible. Intermittently vehicle does not go into first gear from a stand still. 'D' drive flashes on dash. Needs to turn off and restart car. again. Issue goes away but comes back another time. Can happen within 30 minutes of driving. VW dealer carried out diagnosis, road tested vehicle and found fault related to the clutch 1 tolerance limit reached.
