My 2002/2003 Renault Megane has an issue with its immobiliser. The car was working perfectly fine in QLD, then was transported down to Melbourne. When I went to pick it up it wouldn't start. Since then I've bought a new battery, and troubleshooted everything to do with the immobiliser I could find. The keys are after market. Today I met a locksmith at the yard who was very thorough (spent around 3 hours on the car). He was able to determine that there are no issues with the keys, and that the car's computer is also fine. He used a scanner and was able to detect that the ignition reader/chip reader for the keys is not waking up/getting a signal. He said my best bet is an auto-electrician who can check all the ECU fuses and wiring and hopefully find and fix the problem. I have the override security code for the car. I'm happy to pay an hourly rate/whatever is fair to someone who is able to get the car going. I do have a tight budget as I'm just a student - the car was a birthday gift from my uncle. If you have a yard/work station I can organise for it to be towed via RACV, otherwise the car is located at P&S Logistics in Spotswood. I really don't want to give up on the car and am still hopeful it can be fixed. It doesn't make sense that it was working and suddenly isn't. If someone could help I would be so grateful.
