Repair Broken Hinge on Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones

$100

Sydney NSW, Australia

27th May 2025

Hi there, I’m looking for someone with experience in electronics or headphone repairs to fix a broken hinge on my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones (please see photo for reference). ✅ The headphones still work perfectly — they charge, play audio, all buttons and touch controls function as intended. ❌ However, the left hinge is broken, which makes them awkward and uncomfortable to wear. They're basically only usable while lying down in bed right now. I’d like the hinge to be securely repaired or replaced, restoring the headphones to proper wearable condition. You may need to source a compatible hinge part, or repair the existing one - open to your method. Would appreciate someone with: - Experience repairing headphones or similar devices - Access to precision tools for plastic/electronics work - Ability to either fabricate or supply replacement hinge components if needed Drop-off in person is the preference. Fairly flexible with time, but need it done before the 8th of June when I go overseas.

Repair bose headphones

$60

Sydney NSW 2000, Australia

I have a pair of Bose QC35ii headphones (in good condition and fully functional) with a broken plastic hinge that connects the right earcup to the headband and secures the headband cable. As a result, the earcup is loose, hanging by the cable, and can no longer fold or stay in the correct position when worn. The cable runs directly through the broken hinge and is hardwired to a circuit inside the earcup, so it needs to be removed and rerouted through the new hinge. To do this, the earcup must be disassembled, and a few thin enamel-coated wires disconnected and re-soldered. There are plenty of detailed tutorial online - would take 15 minutes for a skilled person.

Build and install a collapsible photo studio backdrop

$250

Sydney NSW, Australia

30th Dec 2024

I need a collapsible photo studio background built and installed on a wall. This would be made from a sturdy material in a clean / solid white (e.g. white MDF board) and mounted directly onto a wall. It would consist of 3 boards that collapse on each other and lock into place, either closed against the wall or opened up into a corner. Each board would measure 60cm x 40cm. Please see the attached mockups. When open, the inside should not have any visible drill holes or hinges, the joins should be clean and almost seamless (i.e. there should be no gaps between the boards), and the bottom board should be strong enough to carry the weight of a heavy pair of boots or a handbag (i.e. 3-5 kg in weight). We should be able to lock backdrop open when in use and then also lock it closed (against the wall) when not in use. I've come up with a basic design that you can see in the attached mockups, but I'm open to an alternative design if you come up with something that looks and functions better. You can construct off-site, but I would like you to install it on my wall. Location is a small office on Level 1 of a building in the CBD. A lot of street parking (including 4 loading zones) just outside the building, and fairly quiet during the holidays.

Audio Outboard Unit - PSU Repair (Aphex Channel + PSU Circuit Diagram)

$200

Sydney NSW, Australia

13th Sep 2024

Audio Outboard Unit - PSU Repair (Aphex Channel + PSU Circuit Diagram) I need an electrical engineer to diagnose and fix my Aphex Channel. This is outboard gear from an audio studio. The unit decided to stop turning on one day, despite being plugged into a high-end power conditioner. The unit's circuitry should be mostly intact, but I believe there is an issue with the power supply circuitry. These units were notorious for PSU issues, and this is the 2nd unit I've had where the PSU died. Upon internal inspection, there was no visible damage - unlike the 1st unit that broke, which had clearly burnt components. Note that the unit would sometimes take 20 seconds to turn on after powering it up, but this was supposedly normal behavior. I was technically covered by warranty when the unit broke, but the manufacturer had recently stopped producing them, which they claim allowed them to reject my warranty. Happy to ship the unit, ideally within Australia. Flexible on budget & time. Cheers.
