The sims 1 CDs were designed to operate off the discs on older windows systems. I can install the base game and have used a patch to be able to open the game. I haven't successfully been able to install the expansions as it wants to uninstall the entire game after installing off the disc. This is due to "safe disc" no longer part of later windows systems including windows 7. I need someone that understands exactly what I have said and will not experiment with fixing it. All I am after is someone who KNOWS what they are doing. It should be a quick fix.

I have an old laptop I got in 2009 with windows 7, and in 2014 a friend of mine updated the operating system to 8.1 . I haven’t opened it in about 10 years but I can see there are a lot of files missing from it - is there a way it can try to be recovered if I have not used it much, if at all since its upgrade?
