What’s included in handyman services in Chicago?
Keeping your home in great shape doesn’t have to be a hassle. Through our platform, you can connect with experienced Chicago Taskers who offer a wide range of handyman services tailored to your needs.
From mounting TVs to fixing small repairs, they make life easier for busy Chicagoans. Whether you’re a homeowner in the suburbs or renting an apartment in the city, a local Tasker can handle those time-consuming tasks, so you can focus on what matters most.
Mounting and hanging heavy items
Whether it’s a TV, large mirror, or floating shelves, a skilled handyman can securely mount heavy items to free up your floor space and create a cleaner, more organized look.Â
A Chicago Tasker has the know-how to work with the wide variety of wall types found in the city, from historic plaster in Lincoln Park greystones to standard drywall in West Loop high-rises. They’ll ensure everything is safely anchored, so you can enjoy your home without worrying about crashes or damage.
Assembling your flat-pack furniture
Leave behind the frustration of confusing instructions and missing screws. A local Tasker can assemble your flat-pack IKEA or Wayfair furniture quickly and correctly. Whether it’s a new bed frame, bookshelf, or wardrobe, they arrive with all the tools and expertise needed to get the job done efficiently.
This service is perfect whether you’re outfitting a new apartment in Lakeview or setting up a home office in Naperville. With a Chicago Tasker, your furniture will be sturdy and ready to use in no time.
Performing minor home repairs
Don’t let small issues turn into big problems. A Chicago Tasker can handle all those little repairs to keep your home running smoothly. From patching holes in drywall after a move to fixing a leaky faucet or re-caulking an old bathtub in a Rogers Park bathroom, they have the expertise to deal with them. Taking care of these minor fixes now can save you from bigger headaches and higher costs later.
Installing window air conditioners
When Chicago’s summer heat hits, a properly installed window AC unit is essential. A local Tasker can securely install your unit, making sure it’s correctly braced, supported, and sealed.
This is especially helpful in older buildings in neighborhoods like Wicker Park or Logan Square, where non-standard window frames can make installation tricky. With a Chicago handyman, you can avoid drafts, water leaks, and the risk of an improperly secured unit falling, so your home stays cool and safe all summer long.
Why choose handyman Taskers in Chicago?
Most handymen in Chicago have local expertise
A local Tasker understands the unique challenges of working in Chicago homes, including navigating the city's specific licensing and permit requirements.
Did you know that certain tasks, like electrical or plumbing work, often require permits in Chicago? Local Taskers are familiar with these regulations and can help guide you through the process to ensure everything is done legally and efficiently.
They also know the rules in neighborhoods like River North, where condo buildings may require scheduled freight elevator access for contractors. With their expertise, you'll have peace of mind that your project is in good hands.
Most handymen in Chicago can address unique local challenges
Handyman Taskers have a deep understanding of the common issues found in different types of Chicago housing. For instance, they are well-versed about the city's iconic greystones, common in neighborhoods like Wicker Park and Logan Square. These historic buildings often feature lath-and-plaster walls, which require specialized anchors and techniques to hang heavy items like TVs or large mirrors securely without causing damage.
Similarly, they understand the specific needs of homes in northern suburbs like Evanston, which are close to Lake Michigan. The persistent "lake effect" winds mean these houses often require extra attention to weatherproofing around windows and doors to prevent drafts and improve energy efficiency.
Most handymen in Chicago offer fast turnaround times
When you need a repair done, you don't want to wait for weeks. Because there are Taskers all over the city, you can often find someone for same-day or next-day service, especially in dense areas like Lakeview and the West Loop. This is perfect for last-minute fixes before guests arrive or when moving out.
Most handymen in Chicago can provide transparent, local pricing
In the Chicago area, handyman services typically range from $40 to $100, depending on the task's complexity. Rates can vary by location. In neighborhoods like Lincoln Park or downtown, you might expect to pay closer to the higher end of that range due to higher living costs, increased demand, and the convenience of central locations.Â
In areas like Bridgeport or suburbs such as Aurora, prices may be more toward the lower end, as these areas generally have lower overhead costs for service providers and less competition for high-demand services.
What other related services can I book in Chicago?
It's challenging to manage a household, but with Airtasker, you can book multiple services to make life smoother and less stressful. Whether you’re patching up walls or getting rid of old furniture, there are plenty of ways a local Tasker can help. Here are a few related services to book in Chicago:
Junk removalÂ
Moving often means parting with old furniture or clearing out clutter you no longer need. Instead of trying to figure out how to dispose of it all, a junk removal Tasker can haul away your old bed frame or boxed up items you no longer need. They’ll save you the hassle of a trip to the dump or risking a fine by leaving items on the curb.Â
Move-out cleaningÂ
Getting your full security deposit back means leaving your old place spotless. After your handyman has fixed those wall dents or scratches, book a move-out cleaning service. Your cleaning Tasker can ensure your former apartment looks good as new. They’ll deep clean everything from the carpet stains to the inside of the oven, so you can leave on a high note.Â
Clock repairÂ
Don't let a broken wall clock detract from your home redesign. If you notice that your favorite timepiece isn't working, book a clock repair Tasker to restore it to its former glory. Whether it’s an antique family treasure or a beloved decor piece, a clock repair Tasker can get it ticking again, making it a perfect fit for your refreshed space.
Maid servicesÂ
Having guests over, but no time to clean? A maid service in Chicago can get your home sparkling from top to bottom, so you can focus on hosting. They can tidy up your space, letting you welcome guests into your home where every countertop is gleaming and the bathroom is spotless. Hiring a maid service helps you make a great impression without the stress.
