Practising the piano isn’t only fun and rewarding, but it is also good for your mental health and emotional well-being. As it requires extreme concentration and multitasking skills, this skill helps sharpen your brain and prevents unfortunate memory loss. Playing the piano encourages creativity too. You can express your style through improvisations, which can help reduce your stress at the same time. It is also a great way to voice your feelings and overcome pressure, either from work or school.
It depends on several factors like the exact lessons you need, your skill level, preferred tutoring style, and more. With Airtasker, you can receive one-on-one private tuition at reasonable rates, with possible extra fees if you need materials like books, music sheets, and more. When putting up your task, make sure to specify your expected piano lessons cost so Taskers can prepare quotations that won’t let you overspend.
Technically, yes. If you can play any other instrument, like the guitar, it may be easier to learn to piano since your ears are already accustomed to beat and rhythm. Bear in mind, however, that these instruments still require different techniques and patterns, hence why it may come a little confusing at some point. Playing the guitar won’t make you a great pianist, but it can help speed up your learning process.
First, you need a piano ready. If you don’t have it yet but plan to get one soon, you can ask your instructor for advice and recommendations, ensuring that you are paying for something worthy. As for your outfit, it is recommended to wear something comfortable, especially around your arms. This way, you can move them freely without any distractions. As for the shoes, you can wear pretty much anything as long as it won’t produce pedal noise!
If you’re starting from zero experience, building solid skills may take between four to six months, but it can be shorter if you practice more frequently, even after class. By this time, you should be able to play by ear and even perform a complete song. It may take years of consistent practice and preparation to achieve the advanced level and compete on stage, but that’s pretty much the golden rule when it comes to playing almost any musical instrument.
Airtasker offers several music lessons, which you can book individually or together with your piano lessons. You can learn how to play other musical instruments like guitar and ukulele, saxophone, harmonica, drum, violin, and more. Or if you want to sing and play the piano, you can combine singing lessons on top of your piano training. From there, you can improve your rhythm and timing and confidently pull off these two skills on stage.

When you book piano lessons near you, expect personalised sessions consisting of step-by-step tutorials, repetitions, and practice exercises that can take your skills from beginner to intermediate level. If you’re already a confident player and planning to enter competitions, Taskers can provide you with private coaching to help you upskill and reach advanced expertise. Here are some local piano lessons you can book from our platform and what each includes:
Learning piano doesn’t have to be demanding and punishing, especially for little ones. Most piano lessons for kids near you are made easy and educational, and at the same time, fun and exciting. Piano teachers may start with quick discussions and easy activities to improve their beat and rhythm. Then slowly, kids and toddies will be introduced to music notes and learn to play easy pieces by repetition. At the end of the course, they should be able to play simple songs, like the Alphabet or Happy Birthday song.
Apart from classical piano lessons, you can also enrol your child in other exciting classes that they can enjoy during the summer! Dance, sports, and swimming lessons, you can find all on the Airtasker platform.
It is never too late to learn piano! But if you’re feeling a little intimidated to attend traditional piano classes, a piano tutor can hold piano lessons near you for adults. Your in-person lessons may involve introductory training and exercises, walking you through music theory fundamentals and playing the instrument. You can practice how to play with right and left hands, and eventually, with both hands. Besides learning how to play chords, piano lessons for beginners also involve learning how to read notes correctly and play songs by ear.
Playing jazz piano isn’t exactly easy, but the results can be so rewarding! For jazz piano lessons, expect to learn chords, rhythm, scales, and improvisation. All these are skills that beginner to advanced jazz pianists should know. If you don’t know anything about playing jazz, you can start from the very basic and gradually progress to more advanced pieces. There are practices to help you be more familiar with this music style. You can also learn a few tips and tricks from your music teacher to accelerate the entire process. This way, you can master this skill quicker, perhaps in just a few months and not in years!
Looking for the best online piano lessons? On Airtasker, you have optimum flexibility to set your schedule and decide on any location. Whether you need beginner tutorials, a refresher, or more advanced training, some Taskers can arrange live and interactive online lessons at your best convenience. They can also provide personalised recordings so you can practice playing even after your beginner lessons!

I have some spare time throughout the day in and would like to cram in quite a few lessons - possibly in a block of up to 2 or 3 hours, once or twice a week for the next 6 - 8 weeks. I am flexible throughout the day so it might suit someone who has fewer lessons whilst students are otherwise at work/school. I’m looking for someone who’s comfortable teaching an adult beginner (although I’m not a complete newbie), I have my own piano but happy to drive somewhere for lessons as well. Hopefully will suit someone who’s passionate about the piano & who can teach at a reasonable cost over this time. After this period, I am likely to revert to an hour a week. Look forward to hearing from you

I have two girls, 5 and 3 years old and would love them to learn piano. I have an old working Yamaha piano they can learn on. I'd like you to come to my home once a week and give them each a 30 min lesson each. Or happy to chat this through if you think they would benefit from another learning approch. I'd like to start in the second week of term 2 and see how we go for 9 weeks.
Professional and knowledgeable, Monica is kind and patient teaching my two children.

Hi I'm hoping to find a teacher for about two lessons per week throughout January (around eight lessons total) initially. Starting on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th of January would be ideal. (After that I'll probably continue occasional face to face and online/app based lesson so bonus if you're available beyond January and/or can recommend good digital resources!). Location: Either my place in Birchgrove or nearby. I'd like to learn basic theory and technique to support playing (and to accompany singing) contemporary, popular and alternative music (not really interested in classical). I'm looking for good musician with an intuitive (rather than a prescriptive or formulaic) approach to teaching and am not fussed about qualifications. Happy to provide any more info needed. I look forward to hearing from you! Cheers, Craig
Vishal is such a great teacher. He is patient, fun, and generous with his time. He customised my classes very well to suit my goals and progress. Very highly recommended!

Experienced pianist wanted for lessons on a regular weekly basis. I'm looking for someone with a good knowledge of jazz/rock and classic genres to teach me. I have some years experience playing keyboards in garage bands, but am self-taught and need to improve my skills. My knowledge of music theory is reasonably good, but my 'technique' is very clunky. I can travel as needed, but would prefer to have the lessons here at my home using my upright piano.

I would like to arrange piano lessons as a gift to my wife. She learnt as a kid, but hasn't played in years. She is also French so learnt with French music notes, so this might make things a bit more difficult at the start. We have a digital piano and would prefer either home lessons or we would be willing to travel (but no further than South Melbourne/Albert Park). Happy to negotiate either arranging a few lessons at the start, or just hourly and go from there. Dates are also super flexible. Preferred time would be in the evenings. Thanks!

Looking for piano lessons. I know a few keys and done some lessons in the past but this is it. Currently learning how to produce music and mix, knowing the piano is a much required art I must fully understand. I am a hard worker, have alot of spare time due to my minimum work schedule FIFO and have a piano (keyboard) at work in the music room to practice. Currently don’t have a full size keyboard or piano hoping to discuss this first with the tutor. Thank you in advance.

Hi! I’m student learning piano. Located in camberwell. I currently don’t have access to a good quality piano which, as you can imagine, makes learning a little difficult. I already have lessons once per week. Just in need of a piano to practice on! If you have a piano that you wouldn’t mind me using a few times a week (let me know when suits you.) that would be amazing. Happy to come to a payment arrangement too. (Repost because the post expired 🤦🏼♀️). Also prefer within 10-15 minute drive from Camberwell.
