I have a 2009 Mazda BT50. in good condition purchased less than a month ago. it was going great until after about 2 weeks i heard a significant ticking noise from the engine. this went on for about 3-4km before it stalled and came to a stop. i managed to get it going again and drive it home. it will start at times but the ticking noise isnt great and it will stall after a few minutes. it sounds like its coming from the back of the engine.

Last week I was driving, my check engine light came on. It wasn’t even 20 minutes later that I started to lose power, I ended up stopping the car with smoke pouring out of the bonnet. I NEED to know if my engine has blown. There was no loud bang but there were some light tapping noises. The aircon started playing up about a week before this had happend. And oil was re filled about 2 weeks prior.

I have a 2008 Falcon EA-FG wagon with 300k on the clock that is not starting. Yesterday I went to start the car and it started making by metallic grinding/banging noise on my second or third time attempt and so stopped and called the RACV. The RACV guy says that it is either: a) The starter motor which can easily be replaced. b) The bendix or ring gear which is a bigger job. I need a mobile mechanic to come out and give me a second opinion. The task is to come and quickly pull out the starter motor and tell me what the actual issue is. If it's just the starter motor then there will be another task to replace it. If it's the bendix or ring gear then another task to fix this is you can. This is a friends car so I will need something in writing like an email or Air Tasker message to conform what's wrong. They said it would be fine to wait until Jan to have this done, and now I have a car that has completely failed due the battery not charging! I was quote $650+labor for the job.
