What does a mechanic service usually include?
Mechanics are skilled in nearly all aspects of keeping your car maintained, serviced, and repaired, so it’s roadworthy and efficient to run. The exact process during your service will depend on how your mechanic prefers to work and the type of tasks they’re doing, like:
Minor service
This is the most basic engine service a mechanic provides, but it can make a huge difference in whether or not your car can operate efficiently. Log book servicing / major service
A major service or log book service involves a series of steps in line with your vehicle manufacturer’s service manual. It’ll include a combination of major and minor services, depending on the age of your car, or how many kilometres it’s travelled. Your service may include testing your lights, brakes, and battery. Then checking fluid levels, windscreen wipers, windows, mirrors, steering, suspension, radiator, fan belts, and tyre pressure. Finally, it may also include maintaining/replacing oil filters, hoses, belts, tyres, and wheel alignment. Your mechanic will finish off by stamping your logbook to record the services completed, which can help maintain your car’s resale value.
Roadworthy certificate or pink slip
A roadworthy certificate or pink slip is a specific vehicle check that’s conducted to ensure your car is in a roadworthy condition and can be operated safely. In some states, it’s required when selling a car or may be required each year to confirm your vehicle is safe for registration purposes. A mechanic will check off a list of predetermined items to verify that your car meets a minimum safety standard set out by your state government. They’ll focus on safety, checking things like tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, rust or damage, seatbelts, windows, lights, and your windscreen.
Major and minor repairs

It’s relatively easy to get to the filter under the car but may need to be jacked up if prefer. I have purchased the new filter. I don’t have special Fuel Pliers to “unclip” the fuel lines from the filter . So you must have Fuel feed Pliers to get this job done (see photo) It’s about a 10-min job if you have the tool! Hello! So pretty much my car is in urgent need of a service, I’m not sure when it was last done. I know for sure it requires new brakes as the make an awful noise when I use them. I need this done asap in order to be able to register the car. I can purchase a UVP to bring it to you if need be. Here’s my problem, as a girl, in the past I’ve been taken for a ride with this sort of stuff, paying more than I should for things I don’t need. So I’m really needing some honesty.
