Hi, Looking for an experienced mechanic or automotive DIYer to help repair a weeping hairline crack on the aluminum oil pan (sump) of my 2005 VW Bora 2.3L V5. An old patch near the oil level sensor has started weeping fresh oil. To fix it properly, the job requires: Drain the engine oil into a clean catch pan (car is on flat, level ground in a secure garage). Clean & prep the surface: Wire-brush/grind back the old failed sealant down to bare aluminum, rough it up, and thoroughly degrease with brake cleaner so it’s bone-dry. Reseal the crack: Apply a fresh, high-strength oil-resistant epoxy (e.g., JB Weld / SteelStik / WaterWeld or chemical metal) pressed firmly into the crack and allowed to cure. Refill with engine oil: Pour oil back in (or replace with fresh oil/filter if bundled into a minor service). Tools/Supplies Needed from Tasker: Jack, jack stands, and oil drain pan. Wire brush, sandpaper/Dremel, and brake/parts cleaner. Professional aluminum-bonding epoxy/putty. Please let me know your automotive experience and availability.
