I’m looking for an experienced carpenter/handyman to help create a custom desktop for my home. I will supply the timber panel and desk legs. Timber panel is approximately 2200mm long × 600mm deep × 26mm thick. I would like the carpenter to: Measure the space onsite and confirm the best finished desktop dimensions with me before cutting. Cut the timber to the agreed length and/or depth. We may reduce approximately 200mm from the length and around 100mm from the depth, but final measurements will be confirmed onsite. Make clean, accurate, straight cuts and sand/smooth the freshly cut edges. Position the desk legs correctly. Pre-drill and securely attach the legs to the timber using appropriate fixings for the 26mm-thick top. Check that the completed desktop is level and stable. Cutting can be completed onsite in my garage in Surry Hills. Please confirm when responding that you have suitable portable equipment to make clean, straight cuts onsite (ideally a track saw or circular saw with guide), as well as the equipment required to drill and install the legs. Please provide your price for the complete job and approximate time required.

Custom timber folding doors – build & install Looking for an experienced carpenter/joiner to design, build/supply and install internal folding doors between two adjoining rooms. The existing opening is approximately 2350mm W × 2430mm H (measurements to be confirmed on site). We would like the doors to fold back neatly when open so the rooms can continue to function as one large space, but allow us to completely separate the rooms when required. We are thinking potentially 4 timber door panels, with 2 folding to each side, but would appreciate advice on the best configuration. As this is an older/period-style house, we’d like the doors and finishing to be sympathetic to the existing timber architraves and detailing. Job to include final measurement, advice on design and hardware, supply/fabrication of doors and installation.

Hi all. Sending this out to whomever I can find locally to build and deliver this desktop. Can't do this myself as my company wouldn't appreciate our machinery being filled up with wood chips, as I'm sure you wouldn't want your machines filled up with metal swarf. Plan is attached plus an image of the colors that will support the right hand side of the desk. I am in no way locked into this color scheme, MDF is fine, just has to be to spec, look nice and be functional. What sort of finishes are available with this material ?
