The two sash spring mechanisms in a French window using a spiral rod balances have failed. The spiral rods need to be reattached. The French Window is double hung, meaning both the upper and lower sashes slide vertically to open and close. Each side of the window sash is connected to the spiral balance rod at the bottom corner. The spiral rod is rotated until the proper tension is achieved to smoothly raise and lower the window.
