I have an old laptop (Asus). It won't start up anymore but it is because the power socket is broken,. With damage to the lid I decided its not worth repairing. The battery no longer works. As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with the hard drive. I would like someone to take the laptop apart and take the hard drive out- I don't have the right screwdriver anymore - the screws are set in deep. Then I would like all the data taken off the hard drive and transferred to a USB (any emails, photos, documents the works). I think most of the emails are IMAP so you don't need to worry about them, but if you find any that aren't copy them. Maintain the existing folder structure if at all possible. Just copy everything - from the desktop too. I can deliver or freight the laptop in the Adelaide metro area. Had my external hard drive plugged in being unused for a few hours, clicked on the drive in my PC to open it and the whole window froze. Hard drive stopped showing up. When plugged in, the hard drive makes the plug in sound then unplug sound a few seconds later. It does light up when plugged in. HDD does not show up in disk management. Flexible for October

Data recovery required for Acer Aspire and portable hard drives, file folders that previously had files are empty.
