Hi, I'm looking to organise a pre-purchase inspection on a 1991 Nissan Silvia S13 Q's. It's a factory manual, naturally aspirated (SR20DE), with approximately 175,000 km on the odometer. The seller has owned it for around 2 years and says he's a mechanic who has carried out all servicing and repairs himself, so there isn't much service history apart from an invoice for a replacement windscreen. The car is currently unregistered and needs to go through Regency. It was defected for coilovers and worn tyres, but it has since been returned to stock suspension and stock wheels in preparation for inspection. The seller states there are no oil or coolant leaks, no overheating history, and that the engine runs well with no smoke or unusual noises. It has an aftermarket aluminium radiator, twin thermo fans, aftermarket exhaust, S14 seats, S15 steering wheel, aftermarket speakers/head unit, and an OEM Silvia grille. Known issues include: Small rust spot under the passenger-side mirror. Cracked dashboard above the instrument cluster. Air conditioning is not currently installed (compressor included, but the system is incomplete). No documented service history apart from the windscreen replacement. I'd like the inspection to focus on: Structural rust (chassis rails, strut towers, sills, floor pans, battery tray, spare wheel well, and rear quarters). Signs of previous accident damage or repairs. Engine health (compression if possible, leaks, timing chain noise, cooling system). Gearbox, clutch, and differential condition. Suspension, steering, brakes, and bushes. Anything that may prevent it from passing Regency or require significant repairs.
