Pre-purchase mechanical inspection needed on a 1995 Jeep Cherokee XJ Limited in Elizabeth Downs SA 5113. I’m an interstate buyer and need a qualified mechanic to inspect the vehicle at the seller’s property. The seller is cooperative and available. Vehicle is unregistered so inspection will be on private property. Need the following checked: ENGINE BAY — oil condition (check for milkiness), coolant and radiator cap for oil contamination, head gasket signs at the head/block seam, valve cover leaks, radiator hoses, serpentine belt, power steering fluid, wiring loom condition passenger side. UNDERNEATH — unibody frame rails poke test for rust, rocker panel pinch welds, floor pans, rear spring perches, front control arm and sway bar bushings, exhaust manifold for cracks, any active fluid leaks. DRIVETRAIN — transmission fluid condition, transfer case output seals, front CV boots, diff cover seals front and rear, rear axle tube seals. BRAKES — front caliper condition, rear drums checked for oil or fluid contamination on shoes, brake pedal feel. INTERIOR — floor carpet lifted for moisture or rust, door seals, gauge cluster function, air conditioning. TEST DRIVE if possible — transmission shift quality, steering, clunks or vibrations, 4WD engagement. Deliverable: report with photos and a summary of findings. Happy to pay fairly for a thorough professional job.
