When engine starts high pitched noise from front. Have replaced belt but still squeals. Suspect alternator bearing as dash charge gauge not showing up to 13 volts. Could be water pump bearing so need to test. Car is an XJ 6 Jaguar 1985 Sovereign so access to alternator only from below under air conditioning compressor. I have done a good majority of the work but the alternator is on bottom of the (east-west) engine and it looks like the exhaust or inlet manifol needs to be dropped to access it. I have got the alternator bolts out i have a hoist i have it on a jack stand already i just cant get my meat hooks of hands in to get it out and wire in the new one.
