Looking for an experienced bricklayer, masonry contractor or licensed builder to modify two existing arched brick openings into rectangular openings for new sliding doors. Location: Mermaid Waters, Gold Coast QLD. Scope of work: - Saw-cut and remove the existing curved brick arches above two sliding doors. - Create straight horizontal tops and vertical sides, with the outer corners cut closer to the existing wall boundaries to maximise the usable opening width. - Retain the existing brickwork wherever possible, including the central brick pillar. - Keep the existing brick courses and appearance — not looking to rebuild or rebrick the entire surrounds. - Ensure suitable structural support/lintels are installed where required, based on an assessment. - Remove rubble and leave the area clean and ready for the new doors. Photos and a marked-up example of the proposed cuts are attached. Important: This may involve structural masonry. I bought some retaining wall bricks for the yard and they were the wrong size (as shown in the photos) on the left side. Rather than replacing them I just need to move about 15 of them from behind the shed (shown in the photos) over to the area behind the pool to sensor the sizes all match. Just had surgery so I am unable to do it myself.
