Salman came to my rescue when I needed my in-laws' Windows computer reinstalled in Caulfield -- because I'm in Sydney! He installed a new SSD disk, modified the BIOS to accept it, reinstalled Windows and even gave my in-laws a lesson in how to use their scanner. In fact, they loved having him around! Sal was punctual, even sending a picture of the house before he went in and confirmed with me (via remote access) that the work was complete.

I have a family member in Caulfield North. Their computer has failed due to a bad hard disk. I'm computer-literate and would fix it myself but I am in Sydney. Therefore, I'd like your help in getting the computer working again. BACKGROUND: It's an old Windows computer but it has been working well. It started operating slowly (apps not opening, Windows being unresponsive). After a reboot it went into the "disk repair" mode and hasn't started since. To me, it sounds like corruption on the disk or a faulty hard disk. There isn't much information on the computer -- it is mostly used for email and web browsing. I normally connect remotely to help with any computer problems. Under my direction, they have purchased a new 512GB SSD drive. (I hope the computer has SATA connectors!) THE TASK: Replace the existing hard disk with the new SSD drive and load Windows 10. Setup remote access (eg Anydesk). I can then remotely configure the system. Not sure if Windows will recognise the computer for licensing purposes, so I'll buy a Windows license later if necessary -- no need to buy a retail Windows license for the moment. You are welcome to take the computer and do the install at your own location, or to perform the work at their house. You'll need to reconnect the monitors, sound devices, printer, webcam, etc. The end-goal is a computer that boots up with a fresh install of Windows on a new disk, with remote access so I can do the rest of the work. Leave the old disk there because we might need to recover files in future. TO GET THE JOB: Tell me how you will go about installing the hard disk and installing Windows. What will you do if the computer doesn't support SATA for the SSD? - Due date: Needs to be done on Sunday, 6 August 2023
