What do PVC pipe repair services include?
Most homes make use of PVC pipes for their outdoor irrigation and drainage systems. They are known to be sturdy and easy to use compared to old cast iron pipes. Although, when it comes to a PVC pipe repair, it’s best to call a licensed professional for the job. Here’s what you can expect when you book PVC pipe repair services:
Repairing PVC leaks with tape
Rubber or silicone repair tape is best used to stop leaks from escalating in emergencies. A licensed plumber uses this because it is known to be solid and reliable. Instead of sticking onto the pipe, it clings onto itself. Its elastic qualities help increase the compression as it wraps around itself.
However, a plumber will choose to use a repair epoxy to stop leaks from worsening. Epoxy is a liquid or putty that is directly applied to the pipe to repair it. This is best left to a professional since using it can be tricky. They can also assess your downpipe installation for any leaks and holes. These may also be sealed off with rubber and silicone tapes.
Using a fiberglass wrap
Using a fibreglass wrap is a more permanent fix used by plumbers in repairing your broken PVC pipe. Here, a fibreglass cloth covered with water-activated resin is used to improve the broken or leaking spot of the pipe. It is essential that the fabric is wet and wrapped around the area carefully. It is then left for 10 to 15 minutes for the resin to activate and extend on the pipe. This can also be an option when repairing your water tank if it is also experiencing similar leaks to your PVC pipe.
Securing holes with a rubber and hose clamps
For PVC pipe hole repairs, a licensed plumber may choose to use rubber and hose clamps. A rubber clamp is used for smoother PVC pipes. However, this is not an excellent choice to use if the hole on your PVC pipe is found on the corners or edges. To use a horse clamp, it must open all the way and be wrapped with the rubber around the pipe. The hose clamps tighten around the pipe. This helps prevent a burst pipe if secured well.

Divert water with PVC piping - small job.

Milton QLD, Australia

Attach new PVC piping to existing PVC outlet pipe (approx. 30mm) to take water to ground level. See photos. Will require a few metres of PVC pipe and some elbows. The pipe needs to be attached to the wall and lead down to the bottom of the stairs (where the water currently drips anyway) but at least it will keep the stairs drier and avoid further damage to the edging of the grout where it joins the wall. We will look at installing a drain at a later date, but that's not your concern at this stage. This job does not require plumbing skills. Measure, cut some pipe, put in some bends and divert it.
Great communicator. job done quickly.
