Damp (or structural damp) refers to the presence of unwanted moisture in the structure of a building, either as the result of intrusion from outside, or condensation from within the structure. In the shower area, internal water leaks or other sources of excessive moisture are generally the cause of damp. Monitoring the area is advised and if any visual signs of excessive moisture appear (peeling paint, mould) then consultation with a qualified plumber or bathroom specialist would be advised to identify the cause of damp and to perform remedial works as required. Always ensure that sealant and grout is in good condition to prevent any moisture issues occurring in the future.

The pushbutton mechanism in my mother‘s toilet has broken. It is a lever system whereby when the lever in the system is pulled up by the pressing of the button then it flushes. My mother has purchased from Reece a fluid master toilet system duel flush valve, however it’s a slightly different mechanism.. If the plumber is able to replace it with a new mechanism, that’s fantastic however if one of the old mechanisms needs to be purchased, then that’s fine too.
Great job fixing my mum’s toilet! Would recommend to any future hair task!

Our ensuite bathroom toilet is draining pretty slowly after a flush. We believe there may be a blockage (everything else in the house is draining fine). We tried to plunge it last night for quite awhile but we couldn’t get a good seal so it wasn’t really doing anything. We tried the dishwashing liquid trick and we left it overnight. My partner flushed the toilet this morning a few times and said it was fine. I tried it a couple of hours later and it’s now back to draining slowly and the water level is higher than normal in the bowl. I’m hoping it’ll be a quick 5 minute job for someone who’s done this kind of thing before, neither my partner or I are handymen!
