I’m looking for an experienced carpenter/handyman to build a set of portable (non-fixed) outdoor timber steps to provide safe access to a deck. This is for my husband, who has had a stroke, so safety, stability and ease of use are very important. Requirements: * 5 steps to reach deck height (~100cm) * Each step approx. 20cm rise and 30cm depth * Width: approx. 90cm * Handrails required on both sides * Handrails to extend beyond the top step onto the deck for support * Non-slip treads required on all steps * Must be free-standing / not fixed (rental property) * Stable enough not to shift when in use * Suitable for outdoor/weatherproof use Important notes: * Will be placed across a driveway, so must be sturdy but movable if needed * Open to design suggestions to maximise safety (e.g. wider base, grip feet, weight distribution) * Must be safe for someone with mobility and balance challenges Additional details: * Please include materials + labour in your quote * Preference for someone with experience — photos of similar work appreciated ** Open to suggestions such as modular steps, wider treads, or additional stability features. Timing: Ideally within the week * Happy to discuss design options before starting I have tried to upload photos but it won’t let me!
