What does a furniture repair service include?

Furniture repairs include a mixture of woodworking and upholstery skills, depending on the type of furniture and fix. Most of the time, your repair person will come to your home, but if they need more time or equipment to complete your repair, they may take your furniture home with them. Here are some of the most popular furniture repair services:

    H3 - Bed repairs

Common problems for beds include broken slats, scratched wood, and broken frames. Or you might need a cot repair to sand and repaint your old cot so it’s fresh and ready for a new baby. Your bed repairer or sofa bed repairer will assess the damage before explaining your options. Then they’ll use things like glue, spare parts, sanding paper, stain, and paint to help your bed look its best.

    H3 - Wardrobe, cupboard & drawer repair

Kitchen cupboard and kitchen drawer repair may involve replacing drawer tracks and hinges or painting and sanding. Wardrobe repairs usually depend on whether it’s a freestanding or built-in wardrobe. Common issues include broken doors, shelving, hinges, and door tracks. However, for more advanced repairs, you may need to find a cabinet maker.

    H3 - Couch & upholstery repair

Upholstery repair is one of the most commonly requested types of furniture restorations. From sunken couch cushions to ripped fabric, most couches start to look a bit shabby before you’re really ready to move on. Your lounge repair might include stain removal, restitching, repairing broken feet or frames, or replacing webbing, zips, foam, or springs. Recliner repairs may also include fixing or replacing parts like motors, electrical bits, cables, levers, footrests, and more. Or if you need leather furniture repaired, your technician may be able to fix issues like fading, scratches, tears, and peeling.

    H3 - Table, desk & chair repair

You can get all sorts of tables fixed, from dining tables to table lamp repair and coffee table repair. Most tables are made from wood, with common repairs including re-attaching broken legs, sanding, and staining. If you need an office chair repaired, your handyman may look at replacing key parts, like armrests, wheels, and levers, while dining chair repairs normally involve reupholstering, fixing broken legs, sanding, and staining.

Hi I have a very old Eames Lounge Chair with the base section needing to be re-affixed to the arm on one side. The chair is engineered with dowel and glue fixing. It had previously been repaired until a friend sat on the arm. Our handyman attempted to repair but it did not hold. As these chairs are costly, I am looking for someone who has some experience in furniture repairs, and knows the correct technique to fix the chair without damaging it. Jason

    Furniture repair: antique writing bureau

    $60

    Coogee, NSW

    17th May 2014

Hi - I have an antique writing bureau with great sentimental value (first piece of furniture I ever bought) which was broken today. It has a fold-out table which is supported by pullout struts. It was opened today without the struts and then a very heavy sudden pressure was put on it which snapped it off its two hinges, and broke a slice of wood off the table part as well. I have attached two photos. One shows one of the hinge attachments and the broken sliver of wood is nearby. The other shows the bureau as it should look once fixed. My guess is that this would not too long if it is possible, but it may not be possible - I'm happy to pay $20 for someone just to come and look and see if it's possible - and of course the full $60 if it can be fixed. I would really love it if it that is possible! Many thanks

Ken was fantastic - replied really speedily, was with us first thing next morning, and did as professional a job as was possible, also explaining clearly the limits of what he could do (as I suspected it's not going to be easy to fix for good). He had really creative ideas for making it work, and was a pleasure to deal with. Many thanks!

Furniture repair on antique writing bureau

    $60

    Coogee, NSW

    17th May 2014

Hi there. I own an antique writing bureau which is very precious to me - it was the first piece of furniture I ever bought. It has a foldout table which was broken off today - the table was laid down without its support structures pulled out and then pressure was put on it very suddenly and hard, so it broke off at the hinges. On one side part of the wood broke off too. I've attached two photos - one shows the hinge connection with the broken wood on the fold out bit; the other shows the bureau as it should look once fixed. I have no real sense of how difficult this job is - my guess is that it wouldn't take very long if it's possible to do, but that it might not be possible. I'm happy to pay someone $20 just to come by and see if it is possible, and of course the full $60 if it's fixable. Thanks so much for any help! - no real time frame on this but I would so love it to be fixed.
