I’m looking for an experienced handyman to repair a small area of moisture damage in an upstairs bedroom of my double-storey house in Mango Hill. The corner of the plasterboard has become soft and is crumbling. When I looked inside the damaged section, part of the timber stud behind it appeared dark and flaky. I had a building inspector assess the issue using a moisture meter and thermal camera. He confirmed the moisture is localized to this corner only and has not spread to the surrounding walls. He suspects the water is entering through the window frame above, which will need to be resealed. The work required includes: * Inspect the affected area. * Reseal the upstairs window frame to stop further water ingress. * Remove the small damaged section of plasterboard. * Remove and replace or repair the affected timber/stud as required. * Replace the plasterboard, set the joints * Install an L-shaped RHS aluminium flashing where the roof meets the wall (as recommended by the building inspector) to help prevent water running down that area (optional) The building inspector is happy to speak directly with the successful handyman to explain his findings and recommendations if required.
