What do PVC fencing services include?

Booking a PVC fencing service through Airtasker means getting a specialist who’ll bring the tools needed for fence installation. Depending on your request and the Tasker you get, they may also handle building permits and talking to utility companies to mark the water and power lines. Some may also offer to purchase the materials (such as gravel and the fence panels or netting) on your behalf.

In general, these are what you can expect when you request a PVC fencing installation service through our platform:

Determining the fence location

First, you and the Tasker need to determine where to put up the fence posts. This depends on the property line, legal issues, and utility lines. Then, the Tasker marks the location of each corner post. Any additional posts will be placed so that the distance between each fence post is 2.4 meters (8 feet).

Setting up the posts

Next, the fence installer digs holes around 60.96 cm (24 inches) deep and 25.4 cm (10 inches) in diameter. They'll put gravel at the bottom of each hole, then insert the corner posts. After checking if they are level, the Tasker temporarily braces the posts with 44 x 96 cm pieces of wood attached to the post tops and the ground.

Afterwards, your Tasker runs a string line along the top edges of the corner posts, making sure that it's taut and level. This is to ensure that the rest of the posts are in line with the corner posts.

Setting up the fencing system

Next, the installer sets up the fencing system. This can be PVC panels, PVC chain links, or mesh. They'll simply follow the manufacturer's instructions and attach them to the fence posts. Once this is done, they'll mix fast-drying cement and pour them into the post holes. The pieces of wood will be left overnight while the cement cures. The following day, the fence installer removes the bracing. Finally, they'll apply PVC cement to the post caps and install them on top of the posts.

Next, the installer has you inspect the fence’s quality. Once you’re satisfied with their work, they’ll pack up their tools and be on their way. Now that you’re done with the fence, why not get a landscape architect to work on your yard or have a specialist install a home security system? You can find local experts by posting on our platform.

Job based in North Shore (Geelong). Currently there is a picketed fence on site. I have received council approval via letter to proceed with a 1.8m fence. The fence I have chosen is Mystique Panel Fence with Lattice. Also required is a gate and installation of a track for sliding gate. There is under 40metres of fencing. Job to include removal of old fence and installation of new 1.8m fence.
