What does a floor cleaning service include?
No matter your floor type, there’s a floor cleaning method to suit it. Your cleaner will start by confirming your floor type so they can recommend the best techniques and cleaning solutions. In general, here’s what you can expect from some of the most common floor cleaning services:
Vacuum
Vacuuming is an essential step to prepare your floor area for a deep clean. While some cleaners may sweep hard floors, vacuuming is more common as it can include carpeted areas and rugs. Your cleaner may include picking up items such as toys, clothes, and books, before vacuuming to get rid of any loose debris and dirt.
Mop
After a thorough vacuum, your cleaner will mop all hard floors. They’ll usually use a mop/bucket combo and a cleaning agent. Using the mop head, they’ll work the floors to get rid of any stubborn grime, dirt, or stains. They may use different types of cleaning agents, depending on the type of hard floor you have. They’ll finish up by dry-mopping to remove any dirty water on your floor. Your floor cleaner may also steam-mop your floors for an extra deep clean (although they’ll avoid timber flooring). In this case, they’ll prepare the mop pads on their device, switch it on, then steam mop all hard surfaces.
Carpet cleaning
Carpet cleaning tackles dirt, liquids, mould, allergens, pollutants, bacteria, dust mites, and even bed bugs that can build up in your carpet over time. Your floor cleaner can steam clean, dry clean, or shampoo your carpet to keep it fresh and clean. They’ll assess your carpet type, check for stains, then use the best carpet cleaning techniques and detergents for your floors. Once they’re finished, they’ll switch on your fans and open up the windows to speed up drying time. Note that most carpet cleaners will only work on visible areas of carpet, so if you want them to clean under things like beds and couches, you’ll need to move these onto the hard floor before your cleaner arrives.
Tile and grout cleaning
One floor cleaning task that is too often overlooked is tile and grout cleaning. Grout darkens over time, as the porous surface collects dirt and water, growing bacteria and mould. Your floor cleaner will restore your tiles to their former glory with the right techniques and equipment. After vacuuming, your cleaner will apply a special grout cleaning solution to break down any dirt, grime, and other contaminants. After soaking for 10-20 minutes, they’ll scrub the surface - either manually or with a machine. Next, they’ll wash the area using hot water to extract the filthy water and cleaning solution. Finally, they’ll dry the tiles and seal the grout to help it stay clean for longer.

The house has already been professionally cleaned but would just like the floors thoroughly cleaned once more to get up any old debris (the house has been freshly painted and there are some small paint residue throughout on the floors which comes up with a mop). 2 bedrooms a kitchen/ living and a lounge room. - Wiping out the linen press and top of one built in where I can't reach and giving the bathroom a quick wipe down, again, has already been cleaned so won't take long.
