What does a rug cleaning service include?
Each type of rug may require a different kind of rug cleaning treatment. Your cleaning professional will check for tags and instructions and assess the material type before they start the cleaning process. Here’s what you can expect:
Wool rug cleaning
Your cleaner will start by shaking embedded dirt and dust out of your woollen rug. Next, they’ll vacuum both sides of the rug to further remove dirt and lose fibres. Then your cleaner will use a wool-friendly detergent solution to gently sponge the surface of your rug and loosen dirt/marks, without wetting it through. Then they’ll use a plain water sponge to rinse the area before blotting it with clean towels to speed up drying. They’ll hang your rug on a clothesline, railing, or chair so air can circulate and dry fully.
Special rug cleaning
If you have a special rug, whether it’s a Persian rug, woven rug, Turkish rug, silk rug, or a designer rug, your cleaner will be extra careful with it. Depending on the type of fabric and weave, they may use a variety of cleaning methods, including dry cleaning, steam cleaning, hand washing, and cold/hot water extraction cleaning.
Synthetic rug cleaning
Synthetic rug fibres (like nylon, acrylic, polypropylene, and polyester) are prone to flattening and matting, especially in high-traffic areas. Regular cleaning is essential to prolong their life and maintain their appearance. If the rugs have any water-based stains, these can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth. Steam cleaning rugs
Steam cleaning rugs is a popular method for breaking down stubborn marks, sanitising, and neutralising odours. Your cleaner will add detergent and water to their machine, before turning it on.
