2007 AUDI A4 engine power cut of while driving

I was driving when the engine power was cut off. We were coming out of a circle and when I tried accelerating, the engine cut off itself and when I tried to start the car on the car was cranking but the engine wasn't turning on and after a few tries the cranking also stopped.

Help please! I have an Audi Q3 2012 Diesel that needs the alternator taken out and replaced with a replacement part/alternator which I have purchased and is ready to be put in. My car is in the driveway of my home and easy to access and work on.
