Vehicle: 2005 Mazda 3 (Automatic). •What happened: I accidentally drove about 3 km with the handbrake engaged. •The Symptoms: There was a strong burning smell and visible smoke coming from the rear wheels. I am worried about the brake fluid might have boiled or the pads are "cooked." What I need done Inspection: Take off the rear wheels and check the condition of the pads, rotors, and calipers. 2. Fluid Check: Check the brake fluid for air bubbles or burning (please bring DOT 4 fluid to top up/bleed if necessary). 3. Handbrake Adjustment: Tighten/adjust the handbrake cable so it holds the car firmly. 4. Safety Verdict: Tell me if the car is safe to drive or if I need to buy new parts. Note: I live very close to Supercheap Auto Rockdale. If we need new pads/rotors, I can go buy them quickly while you are here.or you can bring as back up Budget: $80 (For inspection and adjustment.
