Hi! I’m looking for a mechanic or someone experienced with cars who would be willing to come to my home in Coorparoo and have a look at my 2010 Hyundai i30 CRDi diesel automatic. The car has 286,609 km and was a reliable car for me for years, but it’s currently not running and the rego expired in July 2026. It previously had an oil leak which ended up getting oil into the starter motor. The starter motor has since been replaced, and I have also put in a brand-new Century battery from Supercheap Auto (receipt available), but the car is still not starting/getting power. At this stage I really just need someone knowledgeable to have a look and give me an idea of what the problem might be, whether it could potentially be a reasonably simple/affordable repair, and whether the car is worth spending any more money on or if I should just sell it as-is. I’m a single mum with two young daughters and really need to finally sort out my car for us, as Ubers are just far too expensive. I unfortunately don’t have a big budget to keep replacing parts without knowing what’s actually wrong with it. Offering around $50 for someone to come out, have a look and give me their opinion/advice. I’m not expecting repairs to be included for cheap price I’m requesting — just an initial assessment. If it turns out to be something straightforward, we can discuss the cost of repairing it separately. I’m looking to have the cabin/pollen filter replaced, engine air filter replaced, cooling system serviced and coolant replaced, intake system carbon buildup/fuel system treatment addressed, and brake fluid flushed/replaced. The front brake pads are also worn over 85% and the rotors are noted as not serviceable, so I’d like the front brake pads and rotors replaced. The fault codes are: • P0652 – Sensor Reference Voltage “B” Circuit Low • P2458 – DPF Regeneration Duration I need the following checked: • 5V reference “B” circuit voltage • Sensors sharing the 5V reference circuit • Wiring, connectors, short-to-ground and damaged wires • Actual and desired fuel rail pressure while cranking • DPF differential-pressure sensor and its hoses • Scan-tool live data and confirmation of the actual cause The vehicle is not currently drivable, so mobile inspection in Runcorn is preferred.
