I bought a new lock and need help fixing the lower plate also

I would need to get a second lock installed on a door. I have the lock already. A small extra piece of timber will need to be added. First picture is the current state. Last picture is an example of a similar door where the work was done previously.

Install two Eufy S231 smart locks including drilling holes on two doors. Mainly to drill holes on door. I can set up the electronics myself.

There is a deadbolt lockset (Single-cylinder - key from outside/turn knob on inside) currently installed on the front entry door. The current unit seems functional and in decent condition visually, but is either broken or needs adjustment. It does not seem to engage properly, and can be pulled open from the inside, when closed/locked. It seems to me that the strike is not engaging, or aligned, but the unit could also be faulty, it's hard to tell for me. I would like to have someone out to take a look, and either adjust or replace the unit.
