What does a fridge cleaning service include?
Your fridge cleaning service will depend on what parts of your fridge need cleaning, and if your fridge includes a freezer and/or ice dispenser. Here’s what you can expect from the most common fridge cleaning services:
Fridge and freezer cleaning
Fridge and freezer cleaning starts by removing all the cold items and putting them in cooler bags so they stay safe and cold. Next, your cleaner will unplug the fridge. If the freezer (or fridge) has built-up ice, they’ll leave it for up to 1-2 hours so it can defrost, collecting the water using old towels and buckets. They may also carefully scrape away at big chunks of ice or use a blow dryer to speed up the process. Your fridge cleaner will then wipe down all the surfaces of your fridge and freezer with soapy water and wash the shelves in the sink. They’ll clean inside and out, paying special attention to areas like seals (prone to mould) and handles. Finally, they’ll dry all surfaces with a towel before putting it all back together, switching your appliance on, and putting back all your cold food and drinks.
Water and ice dispenser cleaning
To clean your fridge’s water and ice dispenser, your cleaner will first ensure the water valve is shut off or disconnected before removing the ice bin and tipping out any ice (including built-up ice). They’ll sit white vinegar in the ice maker and dispenser lines for around 10 minutes to break down any lime, before rinsing with clean water. Next, they’ll clean the nozzles with a damp cloth and vinegar, getting into any grooves to remove dirt. Finally, they’ll wash the ice bin with soapy water then dry with a clean towel before putting everything back together, including the water valve.
Office fridge cleaning
This one gets a special mention because office fridge cleaning is a tricky area. Who is responsible for cleaning the office fridge, after all? Not you. Not them. It makes sense to hire someone to do this every couple of weeks so you can avoid the awkwardness (and that nasty smell). Your cleaner will remove any old food and bin it, before wiping down all the surfaces to ensure your office fridge is clean, fresh, and sparkly.

We’ve just moved house and opened a fridge/freezer that had unfortunately been left switched off and closed during storage. There is now significant mould throughout the fridge and freezer. Photos attached show the current condition. Looking for someone experienced and comfortable with heavy-duty appliance cleaning/mould who can completely deep-clean and sanitise the fridge and freezer. The job needs to include: Remove and clean all shelves, drawers and removable parts Thoroughly clean fridge interior Thoroughly clean freezer interior Clean door shelves/compartments Clean rubber door seals/gaskets, including inside folds Clean removable ice maker and surrounding area Clean drainage hole/channel and any accessible drip areas Clean accessible vents and air passages Remove all visible mould, grime and residue Sanitise all food-contact surfaces appropriately Dry everything properly Reassemble fridge once finished We want it left visibly clean, dry, odour-free and suitable for food storage, rather than just having the visible mould wiped over. Please bring all your own cleaning products, PPE, gloves, equipment, cloths etc. If during cleaning you find mould has penetrated inaccessible internal ducting, insulation or other areas that can’t reasonably be cleaned, please let us know rather than simply covering/cleaning over it. The fridge is empty. My partner is currently at the house and can provide access. I’m away at the moment, so I’m looking for someone who can take care of the whole job without her needing to handle the mould herself.
