I don't have the tool to pressure test my Ford ranger cooling system started overheating changed water pump and radiator ran fine for a month then overheated again I've changed thermostat pump radiator and put new coolant bleed system after an hour the car was just getting to run temp left for another 30 mins still cold but slightly warmer on left side of radiator coolant to touch in funnel cold put cap on corect level in overflow bottle let it sit for an hour then drove for ten mins looked lid blew off bottle and air in radiator but still stone cold ??? I need a hand to fix this problem asap

Can someone tell me what this hose piece in the pictures does and if it’s really important? It’s been broken for ages but have finally taken it out as it was making noise.
