Hi everyone, sorry to gather all the cleaners and cleaning companies here, but I wanted to share something important for all of us. I recently completed a cleaning job at an apartment in St Kilda. I take a lot of pride in my work and know I am very thorough. I accepted the job for $200 because I was told it would only take around 2–3 hours and there were no photos provided beforehand. I ended up spending about 5 hours there and essentially completed a deep clean. The apartment was extremely old and some areas were simply beyond cleaning. The window sills were painted timber that was deteriorating and would literally crumble if handled too much. The windows also had old, stubborn staining that would not come off, even after using a steam cleaner and trying different methods. Despite the amount of work I put in, the client left me a negative review ( on my OG account not here )and questioned paying because those permanent stains did not come off and because the deteriorating window sills apparently were not cleaned well enough. I think we should all learn from this and start asking for clear photos before accepting cleaning jobs, especially fixed-price jobs. If more of us make this standard practice, hopefully clients will understand that photos and an accurate description are necessary before expecting a quote.
