What do Car Battery Replacement services include?
Car battery replacement services usually include several steps. First, your car is towed to the garage. Mechanics then remove the old, damaged or non-working car battery. They then install the new car battery. If you haven’t bought the new battery yet, most hired mechanics or specialists can make the purchase for you, if their garage doesn’t have the right battery for your car in stock.
Note that this service is for replacing batteries of conventional engines instead of electric cars. This service also does not imply replacing the batteries in car key fobs.
Towing or transporting your car
Since you won’t be able to start your car, you’ll need a way to transport your car to the garage to get serviced. Some mechanics may offer a towing or transport service to get your car to their garage. Mechanics can attach your car to a tow truck, or place it on a flatbed truck. Your chosen mechanic should be able to tow or transport your car without damaging it.
Replacement service: removing the dead car battery
Your mechanic removes the old battery from your car, regardless of its make, model, and brand. Whether it is a Nissan, Ford, Mazda, BMW, Volvo or other car brands, they can remove the old battery. Mechanics disconnect the terminals to ensure their safe removal. The old battery is placed on a stack of old newspapers or cloth to catch any leaking liquids. Mechanics use safety gloves, and a mask and goggles as batteries contain dangerous substances like acid.
New battery installation
Mechanics can put in your new battery while following best practices. Once the old battery is removed, they clean the battery terminals and clamps to prevent grounding, decreased conductivity or other issues. The mechanic uses a wire brush, baking soda and water to clean out the terminals and clamps, removing dirt, corrosion, or residue. After installing the new battery, the mechanic tests it by starting up your car, activating the wipers, radio, or other electronic accessories.
Old battery disposal
This is another service that your mechanic can do for you, as you cannot toss old car batteries in the rubbish bin. Old batteries have dangerous chemicals that pose a serious health hazard. The mechanic can take your old battery to a recycling centre or treatment facility. Be sure to list this as part of your service, unless you already have a recycling centre or garage in mind to take the old battery.
Car battery purchase
If you don’t have a replacement battery ready and the garage doesn’t stock the right one, some mechanics may offer this service for a small fee. Be sure to provide the mechanic with the money to buy the new car battery for you. Your mechanic can go to the shop, get the right battery then return to the garage to install the new battery straight away.

Hi, I’m looking for an auto electrician to help diagnose an issue with my 2017 Mazda 3 Maxx. I recently attempted to install an aftermarket head unit myself. After connecting the harness, the unit did not power on. At the same time, I noticed several electrical issues: the key fob stopped working (I had to unlock the car manually), the push-start system only detected the key when held near the ignition button, and the interior lights were not functioning. I reinstalled the original head unit and took the car to a local mechanic, who advised that a fuse had been blown. The fuse has since been replaced, and most of the vehicle’s functions have returned to normal. However, the head unit still does not power on, even with the original unit reinstalled. I’m looking for a professional to diagnose and resolve this issue.

Have a campervan and something is tripping the second battery fuse and I can’t charge from my alternator for more than 5 mins without fuses tripping. Happy to negotiate on price or per hour Hoping to leave on a camping trip this Thursday 🚐 It is still charging through solar and 240v. It’s a 300amp lithium kings battery. When I run my van, the fuses marked “main” and “auxiliary “ are tripping and stopping the charge coming from the alternator. When I turn the fuses back on it will work for a few mins then trip again.

Hey there, I have a 2003 Mercedes Sprinter and I’m currently experiencing some issues with the van’s electrical system. To keep it brief: fuse #7 (under the steering wheel), which is connected to the air circulation system and the horn, kept blowing. I replaced it, but it continued to blow. At one point, I temporarily installed a higher amp fuse so I could start the van as I was stuck in the middle of the desert. The van did start, but the higher amp fuse eventually burned out as well. Once I got home, I identified the issue: a cable near the horn was exposed and touching the bare metal of the van, causing the fuse to blow. I temporarily fixed it with tape, and replaced the fuse with the correct rating. The van now starts fine, and no fuses are blowing anymore. However, I’m now experiencing the following issues: Some lights are dim (likely need replacing) The horn is not working The radio is not working I’m looking for someone who can properly troubleshoot the root cause and help repair/rework the wiring. Here’s what I’d like help with: Properly insulating and redoing the exposed cables (I currently have a temporary tape fix on 3 wires) Repairing the battery cable terminal (the screw for the negative terminal has broken) Diagnosing and fixing the underlying electrical issue Replacing any faulty lights I need this to pass a Roadworthy Certificate (RWC), as the van is currently registered interstate. I have some basic electrical knowledge and am happy to assist if needed. I can also remove the dashboard beforehand to speed things up and allow you to start troubleshooting right away. I’ve attached some photos for reference. I’m quite flexible with timing, and I’d appreciate a fixed quote if possible, as I’m currently on a budget. Of course, I’ll cover the cost of any replacement parts (like lights) separately. I also use Airtasker, so feel free to reach out there or here if you have any questions. Thanks in advance! Michael
Strongly recommended ! Dan analysed and fixed all my issues promptly! went more and above what was needed! Hope to work again in future!
