By way of background, I am currently 57 years old and will turn 58 in October 2026. I work full-time as an Executive Care Manager in residential aged care and will reach 10 years of service, becoming eligible for Long Service Leave, on 27 November 2026. I am planning to resign from my job after I have used my LSL & remaining annual leave. I currently own four investment properties: • Two in Wagga Wagga, with one currently under contract for sale and the second planned to be sold after 1 July 2027(earlier than originally planned due to the recent changes to capital gains tax announced in the Federal Budget). • Two townhouses in Bentleigh East, Melbourne. As I approach retirement, I am seeking professional advice in several key areas, including: • Developing a tax-effective strategy for the sale of my investment properties and managing the associated capital gains tax implications across multiple financial years. • Superannuation strategies, including maximising contributions, retirement planning, transition options, and determining the most effective timing for ceasing full-time employment. • Estate planning to ensure my affairs are appropriately structured for the benefit of my two adult children. • Any additional strategies that may assist me in maximising my financial position as I transition towards retirement. I am hoping to develop a well-structured financial plan that will allow me to make informed decisions over the next few years while optimising both my taxation position and retirement outcomes.
