I have an older brick house in Fitzroy where the top of one external brick wall appears to be slowly moving outward. As a result, the timber wall plate that supports the roof trusses has started pulling slightly away from the brickwork. The movement appears small but I want to stabilise it temporarily for a few months until a full renovation takes place. Looking for an experienced carpenter or small builder who is comfortable with basic structural stabilisation work. Scope of Work Likely solution (open to suggestions): • Install threaded rods or masonry anchors through the timber wall plate into the brickwork • Pull the wall plate back tight to the wall • Install truss ties / cyclone ties / Pryda triple grips if required • Ensure the wall plate and roof structure restrain the wall and prevent further outward movement This does not need to be a permanent engineered solution, just a sensible stabilisation until renovation. Site Conditions • Single storey house • Work area located above a window internally • Access via ladder into ceiling space • Photos attached showing the area • Work area is accessible and visible ⸻ Materials Happy for the contractor to supply materials and include in the price. Likely items required: • M12 threaded rod or masonry anchors • Chemset or masonry fixings • Structural brackets / truss ties (Pryda triple grips or similar) • Washers and nuts
