Hi, looking for a quote and proper diagnosis for a charging issue on a 2004 Toyota RAV4. For context, the alternator and battery were changed just over a year ago, and the car was drive maybe 3 - 4,000 km since. It’s barely driven. Summary of what’s happened and what we’ve tested: - Car lost power while driving, with battery, brake, and ABS lights coming on . Battery had been kind of on and off previous to that. - NRMA Replaced battery - temporarily resolved but issue returned . We replaced the battery as after the jump start, voltage showed ~14V at one point, but later no charge . It showed 12 the second time it broke down. - Tested alternator output — no consistent voltage reaching battery - Checked continuity from alternator to battery - wiring after alternator is fine - Tested alternator exciter wire - 0V with ignition ON - Battery warning light does not come on with ignition, but appears intermittently while driving - Alternator belt is intact and tight Based on this, we believe it may be an exciter circuit / fuse / wiring / dash circuit issue, rather than a confirmed alternator failure. It is definitely not the battery. I now have two working batteries! We’re looking for someone to diagnose the charging system properly (including exciter wire, fuses, and wiring) before replacing any major components. Could you please confirm approach and provide a quote? Thanks!
