What do wallpaper removal services include?
Wallpaper removals are usually done when you want to strip off damaged, faded or worn-out wallpaper, or if you're planning to replace your old wallpaper with a new one. Your Tasker will arrive at your location and utilize the necessary tools to ensure a clean removal job, leaving no trace or leftover residue. If you're getting your wallpapers removed for the first time, here's what you can expect:
Wall and room preparation
Your Tasker must first prep the room they're going to work on before anything else. Since the removal process involves the use of water, all electrical sockets, wiring, and openings must be covered to avoid any unwanted accidents or issues. They might also ask you to shut off your circuit breaker temporarily for an extra layer of safety.
Suppose there are any furniture, wall decors, or other furnishings inside the room. In that case, you can either cover them in plastic for protection or remove them entirely until the removal is done.
With the room prepped and ready, your Tasker can now proceed with the removal process. The actual steps will depend on the type of wall and wallpaper you have, and will also require different materials:
For strippable wallpapers, your Tasker can use a putty knife to lift the edges. From there, they can slowly peel off the wallpaper to avoid rips and tears.
For traditional wallpapers, your Tasker can spray or apply a combination of hot water and wallpaper stripper onto your walls. Once the solution has set, they can start removing the wallpaper carefully with a wallpaper scraper. If your wallpaper is old, your Tasker may need to score your walls a bit before using the solution.
Peel and stick wallpapers call for the same process as strippable wallpapers. However, you might need to utilize some wallpaper solution as well to remove the adhesive backing from your walls.
If all these fail, then you may need to get a professional wallpaper steamer to remove your wallpaper entirely. Using an electric steamer can help loosen the adhesive underneath and can also make the process much faster.
Once your wallpaper is removed, your Tasker cleans your walls using soap and water to eliminate any leftover and sticky residue. They can use either a sponge or a rag for this step, then leave the walls to dry right after.
